Current Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Featherweight champion “Savage” Sangeeta Birdi from the United Kingdom continues to take the hard route towards a shot at world honours.

Last December she won the UBO International title when she defeated Tanzania´s former world title-challenger Flora Machela in Ghana.

This past March she was supposed to fight undefeated Rehema Abdallah (10-0-1) for the vacant UBO Inter-Continental title at Super Bantamweight, but Abdallah pulled out and Birdi instead dominated and stopped Nigerian Taiye Kodjo who was not acceptable for a UBO title fight.

On August 15 at the Magereza Hall on Zanzibar island, off the coast of Tanzania, Birdi will finally square off with Abdallah for the UBO Inter-Continental title. A win here, and she could be in line to fight for the UBO world title next.

Birdi, of Indian descent and born in Canada, has a mediocre 5-5 (4) professional record, but she has won four of her last five bouts, and should she add the Inter-Continental title to her resume it will be hard to deny her a shot at the world title if the opportunity presents itself.

But in Abdallah she will be in with a hard-punching foe who has so far not tasted defeat in the paid ranks. The Tanzanian has recorded stoppages in nine of her ten victories, and for her it is also a massive opportunity to take her career to the next level.

Birdi vs. Abdallah for the vacant UBO Inter-Continental Super Bantamweight title on August 15 will be promoted by Platinum Punch Promotions.
