Chilean Joseph Cherkashyn and Leonel Maximiliano Hinojosa from Argentina will rematch for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (South America) Middleweight title.

The fight will headline a show promoted by 24 Box Promotions on August 17 in Puente Alto, Chile, and is expected to be another humdinger.

The two rivals fought last April, with Cherkashyn prevailing by hard-fought decision and owner of the WBC Feconsur Super Middleweight title. Now they move down to their natural weight to contest the UBO title.

Cherkashyn, nicknamed “El Ruso”, is 11-0 (5) and the reigning Chilean national Middleweight champion, a distinction he earned in December of 2022.

For Hinojosa (8-3) the rematch is a welcomed opportunity to win his first professional title after coming up short in his first attempt against Cherkashyn in the spring.

The Argentinian rebounded with a routine victory in early July, so he travels back to Chile with confidence and in excellent shape.

But the local man is hoping to make things easier for himself this time, and show that he is a level above Hinojosa. Chances are it will be another hard nights work, no matter who emerges victorious.
