Argentina-born Italian Federico “El Tano” Schinina captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Welterweight title on Saturday night, May 4, in his home-town Genoa.

In one of the featured fights of Genova Boxing Night 2024, Schinina put on an impressive performance to defeat Venezuelan danger-man Gregorio “El Oriental” Marcano in front of a good crowd at the Fiumara Stadium.

Schinina (29) was technically a level above Marcano, and put together some excellent combinations to largely dominate his otherwise game foe. The visitor tried to find a way, but came second best in most exchanges.

After seven rounds Marcano (24), or perhaps his corner, had had enough and the Venezuelan retired on his stool when the bell rang for round eight, making Schinina the winner by technical knockout.

The new UBO International champion improved his professional record to 10-3 (3), while Marcano, who had won eight straight by stoppage before travelling to Italy, drops to 9-7-1 (8).

The fight was promoted by A&B Events in association with Rossetto Boxe, Celanoboxe Genova, Boxing Duran Italia and Team Magnesi.
