Local talent Davide “Piombo” Carpentieri will headline a Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) championship card promoted by Sparta Pugilato at the Palasantoro in Rome, Italy on May 25.

22-year-old Carpentieri (4-1-3, 4 KOs) will face 19-year-old Hasan Sikdar (7-4-2, 4 KOs) from Bangladesh for the vacant UBO Youth Lightweight title.

After an unusual run of three draws in a row, Carpentieri is not playing things safe as he enters his first title fight against a younger but more experienced foe.

Sikdar has won his last three bouts, and has boxed for a UBO title before, losing to Rey Villar from the Philippines for the Inter-Continental Featherweight title a year ago in Dhaka.

The teenager went on to share a ring with another Filipino contender in Mark John Yap, a fight he also lost, but since then he has been matched more sensibly and won every time.

The UBO championship main event will be preceded by twelve amateur fights featuring some of the most promising boxers in the area.
