Italy-based Argentinian Federico Schinina was supposed to fight Venezuelan Brandon Cordovez for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Welterweight title on May 4 in Genoa.

But it wasn't to be, an Schinina (9-3, 2 KOs) will now instead fight another, potentially more dangerous, Venezuelan in hot-streaking Gregorio “El Oriental” Marcano.

While his 9-6-1 (8) statistics may not impress many, Marcano has won his last eight fights, and all of them inside the distance.

He turned pro in 2018 with a very impressive victory, scoring a split decision over 12-1 Ivan Leon Benitez. But that performance turned out to somewhat a curse.

From that point on he was matched very tough, and went 0-6-1 in his next seven outings against opponents with a combined record of 75-14-3.

But in early 2022 he started benefiting from more sensible matchmaking, and can now be considered a legitimate prospect with considerable power in both hands.

Fighting Schinina in Italy for the UBO title is a massive opportunity, and a great chance to for him to make a name for himself.

The fight is one of the featured attractions of Genova Boxing Night 2024, promoted by A&B Events in association with Rosetto Boxe, Celanoboxe Genova, Boxing Duran Italia and Team Magnesi.
