A crossroads fight between an undefeated boxer and a battle-tested veteran for Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) glory will headline a show at the Palazetto Dello Sport in Lastra a Signa, Florence, Italy on April 27

Local star Paolo Bologna (9-0-1, 4 KOs) fights fellow countryman Mirko Di Carlantonio (17-12-1, 3 KOs) for the vacant UBO Inter-Continental Super Welterweight title, in what is a significant step up for the unbeaten man.

Bologna, nicknamed “The Gladiator”, turned professional with a victory in early 2020, but he had to settle for a draw in his second outing against fellow prospect Nicola Quarneti.

His best victory so far came in March of 2023 when he out-pointed former UBO Inter-Continental titlist Francesco Lezzi, and now he is getting his own opportunity to win the same title Lezzi once held.

But he will have to earn it the hard way, as Di Carlantonio, fighting out of Rome, will be a tough and experienced opponent.

While it will be the first championship fight for Bologna, Di Carlantonio has fought for Italian, IBF Latino, IBF and IBO Mediterranean titles.

In 2021 he came close to winning the Italian Super Welterweight title when he drew with Marco Papasidero, and close to winning IBO Mediterranean honours when he was on the short end of a split decision against Mickael Lacombe in France.

Bologna will be focused on showing he is a man for the future, and Di Carlantonio is determined to show that he has a lot left to offer.
