When Arena de Matosinhos welcomes fans to a night of professional boxing on Saturday April 20, the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) world Featherweight title will be on the line in the main event.

At the Pavilhao Municipal De Fanzeres in Gondomar, Portugal, home-town favourite Francisco Gomes will square off with Jampier Oses from Venezuela for the vacant title.

Originally from Angola, Gomes (7-0, 2 KOs) gatecrashed the Portuguese boxing scene when in his pro debut he defeated undefeated Joao Ramos (3-0) in June of 2021.

In December of 2022 he won the WBU International Super Featherweight title with a twelve-round unanimous decision over Colombian Daniel Ibarguen, and has since been eager to take the next step and challenge for world honours.

Now he gets his chance against Oses (20-10-1, 14 KOs), who at only twenty-six is a very seasoned campaigner with fights against some of the best in the world, including current lightweight bogeyman William Zepeda.

Oses, who turned professional at seventeen in 2015, has been up and down in his career, but he is coming off two victories and should enter the fight believing he has a good chance to prevail.
