UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

It is hard to imagine anything but an explosive encounter when the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Africa Light Heavyweight title will be contested on April 13 at the Decathlon Ghana in Accra, Ghana.

Broadcast live by GTV Sports+, local legend Bastie Samir takes on Nigerian puncher Idowu Rasheed for the vacant crown, on a show promoted by Wisdom Boxing Promotions in collaboration with Pillar Dynamics.

Samir (20-1, 18 KOs) turned pro in 2008 in the USA, and had eleven bouts in the United States, fighting on some big cards, before relocating his career to Ghana in 2013.

On home soil he made a huge name for himself when he stopped 29-0 domestic rival Brimah Kamoko in the seventh round of a 2017 grudge-match.

But Samir (37) has only had five fights since that big victory, and he is now looking to make up for lost time by becoming UBO Africa champion in front of a partisan crowd.

In Rasheed (5-1-1, 5 KOs) he will be facing a hungry opponent, who is less experienced but has youth and activity on his side, twelve years the younger man at twenty-five.

By far the biggest opportunity of his career so far, Rasheed is ready to enter the lions den and shock the local fans by defeating Samir.

But Samir is aware of the dangers his foe will bring, and has been training very hard. A shot at the UBO world title could be on the cards, if he is victorious on April 13.
